Message for Mr. Tomas Quintana

Hi Mr. Quintana,

I would like to leave my message for you since you are very busy to answer my phone call. I understand that you have very tight schedule for your trip to Burma.

Firstly, I would like to say that may you be happy and safe in a military ruled country. Here is my points for you.

If you meet Than Shwe, please ask him if he himself thinks the 2010 election will be free and fair and tell him he needs to stop playing game with you.

If you meet Mrs. Suu Kyi, please tell her that her party should have a decisive decision whether or not to participate the upcoming election since she knows well that Than Shwe will never change his mind to review the 2008 constitution. Please also tell her that the people of Burma now has more understanding the tricky politic of the military regime during she has been placing under house arrest. for years .So, tell her don’t worry if she thinks that people of Burma still afraid of the regime, but don’t forget to tell her that she needs to give a decisive decision to the people so we can go ahead without barrier.

If you meet the members of NLD party, please tell the same words what you have told to Mrs. Suu Kyi about NLD needs to have a decisive decision over upcoming 2010 election instead of walking on the two sides of wall. Specially, tell U Tin Oo too since he just gets released couple days ago.

If you meet ethnic nationalities leaders, please tell them that Burma cannot go ahead to overcome the dead lock political problem without their participation in the upcoming election. So, tell them that don’t worry if they don’t have ethnic nationalities representatives in parliament since they don’t need to have it because the constitution do not guarantee what they have been asking for decades such as self-determination and genuine federal union.

If you meet ethnic cease fire groups leaders, please ask them if they really trust on Burman junta leaders or they have to trust them because of fear and knee down. Now, look at their eyes and ask them again that if they really love their people.

I think my message is enough for you because you are on traveling. Sorry for disturbing you with this message. Please give me a call back as soon as you get my message.

I am looking forwards to hearing from you very soon. Good luck.

Truly Yours,

United Nations Normal Envoy to Burma
